Category:Camera raw files
From Wikipedia: A camera raw image file contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, image scanner, or motion picture film scanner. Raw files are so named because they are not yet processed and therefore are not ready to be printed or edited with a bitmap graphics editor.
There are a wide variety of camera raw formats, and they're usually manufacturer-specific and proprietary. Camera raw files usually have a larger dynamic range and more detail than processed JPEG files, and make it easy to adjust exposure or white balance. They can be processed into JPEG files for upload to Wikimedia Commons using both commercial tools, such as Adobe's Camera Raw plug-in, or open-source tools, such as ufraw.
Most camera raw formats can be converted into the archival DNG format using Adobe's DNG Converter. However, because this does not preserve all metadata information, it is recommended to upload your original camera raw file here as produced by your camera. It can be converted to DNG later as necessary.
